- New at 5:00, the snow, once again, proving too much to handle for a Chicago building. The rear wall and part of the roof of a vacant building in 82nd Rosene collapsed today. No one was hurt there, but that wasn't the case yesterday. We're learning more about the man who died after becoming trapped underneath a canopy that collapsed at an off-track betting parlor.

54-year-old Randy Pate Sr. was crushed when the canopy crashed down under the weight of the snow. Another man who escaped from underneath that canopy is in fair condition.

The fire department says, if you can safely do so, try to remove any snow that's been building up on your canopies.
