Feb. 16—Growing up in Gallup, Colt Balok dreamed of making a difference.

Balok has been the driving force behind "The Colt Balok Show," which has amassed over a million viewers internationally.

The show is a platform to spotlight those making a difference in a community.

On Saturday, Feb. 24, Balok is returning to Gallup for a live taping called, "A Night with the Stars," at El Morro Theatre.

Guests for the night include singer Chevel Shepherd, actors Jeremiah Bitsui and Drew Seeley.

"I wanted to do a show with some of my favorite people," Balok says. "Bringing the show back to my hometown and partnering with the city of Gallup has been a great opportunity for the show."

Balok wanted to have Shepherd on the show again.

"I feel like she's iconic within the state," he says. "She won 'The Voice' and nobody from New Mexico has done that. She put herself on the national level through the competition and she continues to make change with her music."

Getting "Breaking Bad" actor Bitsui was also a must for Balok.

"He's fun and down to earth," he says. "Being able to fly him out for the show is amazing. Jeremiah is a great point of inspiration for Native actors."

While Shepherd and Bitsui have been guests on previous shows, it will mark Seeley's first time being featured on the show.

Seeley is an actor based out of Los Angeles.

His breakthrough came in 2006 when he was featured in "High School Musical" as the singing voice of Troy Bolton.

"Growing up, I was telling Drew that I remember watching his video with Vanessa Hudgens and how it inspired me," Balok says. "Drew was performing the 'High School Musical Tour' in massive stadiums and he really made an impact on me."

Balok's goal with the TV series has always been to have it remain based in New Mexico.

"I've always wanted to do something fun and unique," he says. "I'm really not big on following the status quo. I'm not that guy. Let's break barriers and do new things. If we want to see our community be better, then we need to take risks and not be afraid. I'm excited for this show because it has many meanings for me. We've worked tirelessly for years to make an impact and it's happening."
