“As it stands, there is absolutely no point in negotiating with Russia or arranging a summit meeting,” said Podolyak.

According to him, the Kremlin remains convinced it can achieve some enduring results in its attempted conquest of Ukraine.

“Any such meeting at this juncture would follow the tradition Russian playbook: establish a status quo, engage in facetious ‘Minsk routine,’ before launching another escalation; nothing but an operational pause,” the adviser said.

Podolyak added that Ukraine’s objectives are to liberate its territory from enemy occupation and ensure Russia is held responsible for its crimes. Once Russian troops withdraw from all of Ukraine, Kyiv would be open to talks with Russia, discussing “post-war co-existence, reparations, and the extradition of Russian war criminals.”
