RAISIN TWP. — A Lenawee Intermediate School District bus, which was transporting five special educational students and two LISD staff members, was involved in a crash early Monday when the bus was struck by another vehicle.

A Facebook post from the LISD said there were not any significant injuries to either the students or staff who were on board bus No. 20-2.

“Out of an abundance of caution, all students and staff involved were taken to ProMedica Hickman Hospital for medical review,” the post said.

The crash happened at 7:48 a.m. when a westbound vehicle on East Valley Road did not stop for the sign at Occidental Highway and collided with the bus, which was eastbound on Valley, taking the curve onto northbound Occidental, Raisin Township Police Chief Kevin Grayer said. The occupants of the westbound vehicle were unfamiliar with the area, he said.

The two people in the at-fault vehicle also were taken to Hickman Hospital, where they were treated and released, Grayer said.
