'No!' SpaceX Starship SN8 Explosion Elicits Emotional Reaction From Observer

SpaceX’s Starship SN8 rocket exploded on landing in Boca Chica, Texas, following an unmanned test flight on Wednesday, December 9.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk tweeted after the explosion: “Fuel header tank pressure was low during landing burn, causing touchdown velocity to be high … but we got all the data we needed!”

SpaceX says the rocket is “designed to carry both crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the moon, Mars and beyond.”

Austin Barnard shared this footage from Boca Chica as the SN8 rocket crashed during its landing. Barnard can be heard enthusiastically narrating the maneuvers of the rocket, then yelling “No!” when the craft explodes. He says in the video that he thinks the test was a success in spite of the landing. Credit: Austin Barnard via Storyful
