No students injured in crash involving school bus Thursday morning near Kandiyohi, Minnesota

Dec. 8—KANDIYOHI

— No students were injured Thursday morning when a pickup rear-ended a school bus east of Kandiyohi.

Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash reported at 7:19 a.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 12, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report.

A Ford F250 pickup truck driven by 56-year-old Brian James Hinrichs, of Willmar, was eastbound on U.S. Highway 12.

Debra Joy Cronen, 66, of Kandiyohi, was also driving a Freightliner school bus, carrying 11 students.

According to the report, the school bus was also eastbound and slowed down to make a left turn when the two vehicles collided in the 8700 block of U.S. Highway 12 East.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.

Cronen was transported to CentraCare in Willmar for treatment. No transport was listed for Hinrichs.

Road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the crash.

Atwater Ambulance, CentraCare Willmar Ambulance and the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.
