WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — No Harrison High School students were injured in a Tippecanoe School Corp. bus accident about 2:45 p.m. Monday on Indiana 43, school district spokeswoman Sue Scott said Monday.

Police were called to the accident that happened on the state highway near Tippecanoe County Road 800 North.

Indiana State Police said a northbound Chevy Malibu ran into the back of a school bus, which was stopped in the right lane with its stop arm extended and flashing lights operating.

There were fewer than 20 students on the bus at the time of the accident, Scott said.

The students and bus driver Kristy Spencer were checked at the scene for injuries, Scott said.

The driver of the car and a juvenile passenger complained of pain after the accident, police said. They did not go to the hospital, police said.

Some of the students' parents showed up at the scene and took their children home, Scott said.

For those students without a ride, the school district dispatched a spare bus to the scene, and Spencer finished the route, Scott said.

The accident briefly interrupted the traffic, but the road was back open less than an hour after the accident, police said.
