No tax hike in Schuylkill County preliminary budget

Nov. 16—The Schuylkill County commissioners approved a 2023 preliminary budget that does not include a tax hike.

At their Wednesday meeting, the vote was unanimous for the $220,317,787 budget.

"This will be the fifth consecutive year there has not been a tax hike," Finance Director Paul E. Buber said.

Property taxes will remain at 15.98 mills.

The final budget will be presented for adoption at the Dec. 21 board meeting.

The preliminary budget — 120 pages in length— is available for public inspection and will be posted online by next week.
