No tornado reported in Turner County, despite Saturday's warning, NWS says

No tornadoes were recorded, despite reports of a radar-indicated tornado warning issued Saturday afternoon for the area southwest of Sioux Falls, said Jeff Chapman, meteorologist at National Weather Service in Sioux Falls.

“There was not a tornado observed with that storm,” Chapman said.

The warning was part of a severe line of storms that moved through the area Saturday afternoon and triggered a widespread tornado watch that lasted into the evening. The warning was issued at about 3:30 p.m. and lasted until 4 p.m. for the cities of Parker, Monroe and Marion, the NWS alert states.

Finance Officer at Parker Adam Jans said there were no reports of any damage or injuries he was aware of, and Marion city officials did not want to comment and referred the Argus Leader to Turner County Emergency Management. Officials with the emergency management office weren't immediately available.

Monroe city officials were not also immediately available for comment.
