No tricks, just treats

Oct. 26—If you're searching for fun things to do for Halloween, we've got you covered. From haunted houses to pumpkin patches to trunk or treats, here are some spooky events happening in Johnson County through Nov. 4.

Alvarado

Trick-or-Treaters will find their match on Tuesday when Trunk-or-Treat comes to the historic Alvarado Square.

"Young ghosts and goblins are welcome to trick-or-treat from cars parked all around the Square," Alvarado City Councilperson Beverly Short said. "The candy is free for children."

The Trunk-n-Treat event is from 6-9 p.m. at the Alvarado Square, 104 W. College Street.

"We'll have music and lots of fun," Alvarado Mayor Pro-Tem Lydia Moon said.

Businesses, organizations and other entities are invited to host a Trunk/Candy Station.

"Spots are still available, and set-up and registration will be from 3:30-5:30 p.m.," Moon said. "First, second and third prizes will be awarded to the 'Best Dressed Trunk/Candy Station.'"

Donations of candy are welcome and can be arranged through Precious Moore at the Alvarado Public Library.

Historic Downtown Cleburne Boo Bash

The Historic Downtown Cleburne Association is hosting a Historic Downtown Cleburne Boo Bash from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Raising Cane's will also participate. They will be set up at The Wright Plaza to hand out candy and Cane's swag.

Trick-or-Treat in the Park!

Trick-or-Treat in the Park! is from 5-9 p.m. Saturday at Cleburne State Park, 5800 Park Road 21 in Cleburne.

Entry fees are waived for each person who brings an unexpired canned good during the hours of the Halloween event.

All canned goods are donated to a local food pantry in our community.

Godley

Godley's first-ever Boo Bash is from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Palio's Pizza Cafe and Chapelhouse Studios, 8837 Texas 171 North in Godley.

Trunk-or-treat in the parking lot while you enjoy karaoke and carnival games. A kid's costume contest will be held with prizes sponsored by local businesses.

Chapelhouse Company is turning the studio into a Candyland Cottage, which has a $5 entry. All proceeds will help Chapelhouse students travel to Sacramento, California, in February to participate in Junior Theater Festival.

All other festivities are free.

Other events

Hope Church Cleburne hosts Trunk or Treat from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Intermediate School, 1710 Country Club Road. Free for all to attend. Candy, games, bounce houses and more.

American Steel Carports, Inc. hosts Trunk or Treat from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at 457 N. Broadway St. in Joshua. Food, drinks, music and games for kids. A raffle will be held for a spooky prize.

Beauty Gallery hosts Trunk or Treat from 5-8 p.m. at 910 W. Henderson St., Suite A, in Cleburne. The family hair salon will be passing out candy.

LifeGate Church hosts Trunk or Treat from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at 601 S.W. Thomas St. in Burleson. Bring a candy bag and wear a costume for the church's first-ever trunk or treat event.

Heritage Place Assisted Living & Memory Care hosts a community Trunk or Treat festival at 2 p.m. Saturday at 300 Huguley Blvd. in Burleson. The family-fun event is packed full of trunk-or-treating, refreshments, music, games and more.

Boo Bash 2023, hosted by Joshua Community YMCA, is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at 201 Jones St. in Joshua. Food trucks, inflatable fun, trunk or treat and community vendors. A Fall Festival, hosted by Faith Temple Church, is from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at 1440 Kilpatrick Court in Cleburne. Food includes cotton candy, caramel apples, popcorn and hot dogs. A chili cook-off will be held, with a $15 entry fee. Games include pumpkin tic tac toe, candy corn bowling, cup cake walk and corn hole. Takes pictures at the photo backdrop and enjoy face painting and a hay ride.

Bethesda Baptist Church hosts a Fall Festival from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at 100 W. Bethesda Road in Burleson.

The 2023 Fall Festival is from 2-5 p.m. at First Assembly of God in Joshua, 3330 S.W. Wilshire Blvd. in Burleson. The free event includes bounce houses, hay rides, games, cake walks and more.

Nolan River Road Baptist Church's Fall Festival is from 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at 820 N. Nolan River Road in Cleburne. There will be games, balloon animals, bounce houses and candy. This event is free but stop by the registration tables to guess how much candy is in the jar for your chance to win a prize.

Caddo Grove Elementary School's annual Fall Festival is from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the school, 7301 FM 1902 in Joshua. Activities include hay rides, music, food and ice cream, games, kettle corn, bounce houses and a community fire truck. A silent auction will be held, and H.E. Buddy and Salvation Army have giveaways.

A Fall Festival, hosted by Lane Prairie Baptist Church, is from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at 412 CR 704 in Joshua. Many games and lots of candy available.

Gospel Lighthouse Church hosts a fall festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at 200 S. Ridgeway Drive in Cleburne. Fun games, hobo stew, cake and cookie walk, bounce houses and more.

Calvary Baptist Church Grandview hosts a fall festival from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesday at 101 W. Main St. in Grandview. The free event includes games, candy, bounce houses and more.

Frank Walters Foundation is hosting a special Halloween event: Haunting for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Awareness. The event is from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Hidden Creek Sports Complex, 295 E. Hidden Creek Parkway in Burleson. It features a silent auction, vendors, games, a costume contest, prizes, guest presenters and more. Fun for the whole family. Loc Down Car Audio is hosting a last-minute truck or treat beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday at 2601 E. Renfro St. It is part of a car show, and people are invited to set up their trunk and give out candy. A projector will be set up playing Halloween movies.

Dogs and Donuts Halloween Edition, hosted by the city of Burleson, is from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday at Burleson Bark Park, 616 Memorial Plaza in Burleson. Apple cider and donuts available as long as they last. At 7 p.m., a Halloween costume contest will be held for furry friends. Register early at burlesontx.com.
