'No Wrongdoing' In Arrest Of Jaywalking Skater: Redmond PD

A video has emerged of Redmond police grabbing a skateboarder after he was seen jaywalking.

REDMOND, WA - Redmond police are responding to a video that's circulating showing officers grab a skateboarder who was seen jaywalking. After placing the 20-year-old under arrest, police say they found him in possession of marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms.

The department says the officers committed "no wrongdoing" in detaining the skateboarder. Two bike officers can be seen in the video grabbing the skateboarder's shirt. They claim he ignored their commands to stop, and so was arrested for obstruction.

"When we tell you to stop you stop, that's called obstructing everybody. Learn," one of the officers tells the people filming the interaction.

The incident was first reported in the department's police blotter, which was published on Tuesday.

"The city takes any complaints against our officers seriously. We have reviewed the video that has been posted online, investigated the arrest, and have found no wrongdoing by the arresting officers. The Redmond Police Department does not arrest people in Redmond for jaywalking, but does arrest individuals who are obstructing," the city wrote in a press release.
