NOAA Plane Flies Over Storm Laura Churning in Caribbean

Tropical Storm Laura brought heavy rain and flash flooding to the Cayman Islands and parts of Cuba on Monday, August 24, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.

Nick Underwood of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said these videos show views to the west and inside of Storm Laura as it moved across the Caribbean south of Cuba on Monday.

As of Tuesday morning, Laura was just below hurricane strength but forecast to become a “major hurricane” on Wednesday, according to the NHC. The storm was about 145 miles away from western Cuba and 625 miles away from Lake Charles, Louisiana, as of 7 am on Tuesday. Credit: Nick Underwood/NOAA via Storyful
