Noah calls out Trudeau's penchant for being 'enthusiastic about costumes'

Did the photos that emerged of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in blackface amount to him being "more enthusiastic about costumes than is ... appropriate (anodd explanation for Trevor Noah)"? The images of him in racist garb were certainly shocking, especially to some who considered him an ally.

Taken decades ago, the photos show the leader in "brownface" at an Arabian-nights-themed party (he was supposed to be Aladdin) and blackface while impersonating Harry Belafonte during a contest in high school.

Despite stumbling for an explanation and coming up with "enthusiastic" costuming (Noah wonders if that also applies to how much the prime minister commits to other costumes), Trudeau ultimately responds in a way that perhaps other politicians can learn from. He admits his mistakes, apologizes, calls out his past ignorance and racism, acknowledges the history of racism and says he's learned better since.

Late-night comic Seth Meyers says the photos are so bad that Canadians may deny their citizenship. And late-night newcomer (and Canadian citizen) Lilly Singh talks about other challenges.
