1. End to NoDa street vendors? Charlotte could change iconic feature of vibrant arts district

No more street vendors in NoDa?

Charlotte city officials are considering giving the NoDa Neighborhood and Business Association more power to regulate street vendors. It’s a debate vendors worry could impact their livelihoods and culture of the neighborhood.

2. Why some NC doctors can’t sign a marijuana form for the Cherokee dispensary

The Cherokee nation has yet to issue medical marijuana cards and already some N.C. doctors won’t sign the necessary paperwork.

Linda Shetters said she was shocked when her primary care doctor in Brevard refused to sign a form from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians’ Cannabis Control Board last week.

By signing the form, a doctor acknowledges that a patient has the medical conditions they say they do to help qualify for a cannabis card.

3. Was cop wrong to shoot man fleeing Charlotte airport parking deck? A jury may decide

The case against a police officer who shot a fleeing but unarmed driver is cleared to go to trial more than five years after the incident.

The lawyer for the man who was shot argues the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer was wrong in firing two rounds at a driver who refused to stop but otherwise posed no danger.

4. Hornets’ new jersey patch sponsor is one of YouTube’s most popular creators

The Charlotte Hornets are in business with one of the most popular YouTubers on the planet.

Feastables, a snack brand founded by the well-known YouTube creator and N.C. native Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson, was announced as the newest jersey patch sponsor for the team. The company’s logo will be on each of Charlotte’s uniforms for the 2023-24 season.

Rod Boone details the deal between the Hornets and MrBeast.
