Noel Gallagher's beef with Adele comes down to one simple gesture

Noel Gallagher took umbrage with a seemingly friendly gesture from Adele, which kickstarted a public campaign against her.

Earlier this summer, the High Flying Birds frontman absolutely tore into the 'Rolling in the Deep' singer - not for the first time - during an interview on Matt Morgan's podcast, claiming her tunes were comparable to those of the late Cilla Black.

However, Gallagher insisted that his beef with Adele only exists because she went through second party channels to contact him.

"She sent someone over to f****** ask, 'Did I want to meet her?'. That's what riled me," he admitted. "I'm not one for causing a scene, I just stick it in the vault and just think revenge is a dish best served cold.

"I don't think I have ever gone out of my way to start anything, it's always been a reaction to some f****** idiot having a go in the first place. You know me, I keep myself to myself."

Meanwhile, the 'Wonderwall' songwriter even joked that he could one day collaborate with the Grammy Award winner.

"If I fall out of love with touring, I could see myself just sitting at home writing songs and sending them to my publishers. I'll be saying, 'Get Adele to sing that. Don't call until she's done the guide vocal,'" he said.

In the past, Gallagher has also been critical of popstar Miley Cyrus, arguing to The Daily Star that she's responsible for the over-sexualisation of women.

"That God awful woman Miley Cyrus was on [TV]. She was doing some f****** s*** and even my nine-year-old said, 'Why is the cameraman just filming her legs?'

"Women have been sexualised because of America, British culture would never sexualise a female. This has all come from America – that juvenile, jock, stupid f****** culture," he added.
