Nolde Forest taking applications for archery deer hunt

Jul. 11—Applications for the annual Nolde Forest permit-only archery deer hunt will be available at the park office beginning July 18 through Aug. 5, Nolde officials announced Monday.

Nolde's office hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The permitted archery hunt takes place Sept. 19 to Nov. 25, and Dec. 27 to Jan. 27 at the Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center at 3025 New Holland Road, Cumru Township.

Prospective hunters should mail in their applications by 4 p.m. Aug. 5.

Hunters will be selected by lottery on Aug. 8 at 9 a.m. Successful applicants will be notified by mail.

To apply, hunters must have a current Pennsylvania hunting license, Pennsylvania archery stamp and Wildlife Management Unit 5C antlerless deer license.

Also note that Nolde Forest is within Disease Management Area #4 for chronic wasting disease and accepts DMAP tags.

Selected hunters will be assigned one of four hunt periods: Sept. 19 to Oct. 7; Oct. 11 to Oct. 28; Oct. 31 to Nov. 23; or Dec. 27 to Jan. 27.

16 hunters will be allowed to hunt each day of the first three periods, and 22 during the fourth period, in open hunt areas on weekdays.

There is no hunting permitted between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. during the week, or on certain holidays.
