Nolensville Little League ends its LLWS run with 2-0 loss to Chinese Taipei

Nolensville Little League reached the final day of the 2022 Little League World Series, and its run ended with a loss in the third-place consolation game on Sunday.

Nolensville dropped a 2-0 decision to Chinese Taipei at the Little League World Series in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

"Do not hold your head down," Nolensville coach Randy Huth told his team after the game on the ESPN broadcast. "What you accomplished is virtually impossible. People around the world do not realize how hard it is to get here. It is extremely difficult to get here, and we did it."

"I'm sad that we'll never be together as a team on this field again. That makes me sad. But I could not be more proud of you."

Nolensville ends the LLWS at 4-3 overall and in fourth place in the tournament.

Chinese Taipei strikes first

Chinese Taipei opened the scoring in the second inning on an odd play.

With runners at first and second base with two out, Chinese Taipei orchestrated a double steal. Nolensville catcher Bo Daniel threw to second base, but was unable to throw out the runner, allowing Hsiao Chao-Hsun to score in the process.

Chinese Taipei added another run in the fourth inning. Li Fang-Mo led the inning off with a single and scored from second base on a Wu Hsuan-Hung RBI single.

Nolensville pitcher Jack Rhodes, one of two returning players from last year's LLWS team, was pretty good Sunday, pitching into the fifth inning and allowing the two runs on three hits and two walks. Nash Carter came into pitch for Rhodes after he reached the maximum 85-pitch count and threw 1 2/3 innings of no-run relief.

Nolensville's quiet day at the plate

Nolensville lineup struggled Saturday against Hawaii, and it continued on Sunday.

Similar to Saturday's loss, Nolensville had chances with runners on base. William Satinoff doubled with two out in the third inning but was stranded. Bo Daniel led off the Nolensville fourth inning with a double, but Chinese Taipei pitcher Liao Yuan-Shu got the next three batters out in order.

Yuan-Shu threw a complete game 3-hitter with 13 strikeouts.
