United Way of Gaston County is now accepting nominations for the 2024 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award, according to United Way Gaston’s President Andrea Stephens.

Here is some background information about the awards, who won last year, and how to make a nomination:

History

A longstanding tradition, the award program was established in 1979 to recognize North Carolina residents participating in community service across the state.

Each year, several nominations are submitted, and the awards are distributed to some or all of the nominees from each county.

Last year, eight volunteers who were nominated in Gaston County received awards, Stephens said.
