Non-profit helping everyone feel beautiful for prom in NE Ohio; accepting dresses now

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — A local service organization is once again helping Northeast Ohio high schoolers in their quest for a prom dress, all free of charge.

‘It’s not me, it’s you’: Insomnia Cookies offers break-up box ahead of Valentine’s Day

The annual Princess Night Project event, put on by Altrusa International of Akron, helps put all who want to attend prom on equal footing. High school females from all over the area, not just Akron, are invited to participate — no pre-approval or registration necessary.

The event is being held at Kohl Family YMCA (477 East Market Street) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is set to include nearly 2,000 dress options. Teens can also peruse through a selection of purses, shoes and jewelry.

Local high school implements electronic hall passes

Since 2001, local organizers say they’ve provided more than 2,400 girls with free prom dresses.

Those who would like to donate gently used or brand new prom attire to the cause are more than welcome to do so through March 2. For more information on the event and donation opportunities head here.
