New nonstop flight to LAX landing at Pittsburgh International Airport from Breeze Airways

An ultra-low-cost carrier is adding a nonstop flight between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) later this summer, expanding the number of carriers with such a service to one of the nation’s busiest airports.

On Mondays and Fridays beginning on Sept. 8, Cottonwood Heights, Utah-based Breeze Airways will begin offering flights between the two airports. The carrier joins Spirit Airlines Inc. as the only other airline at PIT that has a nonstop flight between the region and LAX, though Spirit offers its flights between the two cities daily.

Breeze’s flights between LAX and PIT will replace an existing and similar route from the carrier that began in March, which connects Pittsburgh with Santa Ana John Wayne Airport (JWA) in Orange County, California. These two Los Angeles-area airports are separated by about 40 miles and an hour-long drive, with LAX being much closer to downtown Los Angeles.
