Noon Year’s Eve celebration

Come celebrate with the town of Ocean Isle Beach Recreation Department and the Museum of Coastal Carolina as they host the Noon Year's Eve, a family-friendly party to be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 31 at Town Center Park, 11 E. Second St., Ocean Isle Beach. The outdoor event is free and open to the public and will include making festive party hats and noise makers, refreshments, prizes and dancing. Silent auction and fundraiser

New Hope Clinic will be holding a silent auction and fundraiser, 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28 at the Bald Head Island Club. Free admission. The silent auction will be 5-7 p.m. and items will include a photography session, boat tour, fishing trip, custom stained glass, original artworks, vacation rentals, Bald Head Island club member for a day package, hockey ticket package, gift baskets and certificates, and more. Museum of Coastal Carolina

The Museum of Coastal Carolina presents several programs in December.

  • The Sea Tales family program will be "Squirrel's New year's Resolution" by Pat Miller, 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28. Squirrel struggles to make a New Year's resolution despite helping her friends with theirs. Participants can learn more about Squirrel’s dilemma, make New Year’s Resolutions, and prepare for New Year’s Eve by making festive party hats.

  • Touch Tank feeding with staff and trained volunteer assistance, gently touch sea stars, urchins, anemones, conchs, horseshoe crabs, and hermit crabs. Also trained volunteers would feed the animals, participants will learn more about the sea creatures that call the museum home. The program is at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29.

  • Coastal Creations will be Sea Stars at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30. Did you know there are over 2,000 species of sea stars? Participants can discover local species of sea stars, learn why sea stars are no longer called star fish, and complete a special sea star craft.

The museum is located at 21 E. Second St., Ocean Isle Beach.
