Four Jimmy John’s workers are out of a job after a social media video was posted that customers say is “racist” and “hateful.”
The incident occurred at a store in Woodstock, Georgia, where the employees filmed themselves playing with a noose that appears to be made of bread dough, the video shows.
In Woodstock, GA at a Jimmy Johns, some white employees made a noose, look at the DETAILS in the damn noose dough that’s used for sandwiches. Crazy. They done this before.... pic.twitter.com/HylIMFvxxF

One employee drapes the “noose” over the neck of another and yanks it repeatedly as the others watch and laugh, the video shows. Near the bottom is a celebratory “Happy 4th of July” filter.
The clip was posted on Snapchat and later shared across social media, racking up thousands of views.
In a statement on Twitter, Jimmy John’s condemned the incident and said the employees had been fired.
“We have zero tolerance for racism or discrimination in any form,” the company commented under the video, which was re-shared by a Twitter user on Sunday. “The franchisee has taken immediate action and the employees have been terminated. The actions seen in this video are completely unacceptable and do not represent the Jimmy John’s brand.”
The response did little to quell outrage from customers who bombarded the Jimmy John’s Yelp! and Facebook pages with negative reviews. Others shared screenshots of the viral video and threatened to boycott the “freaky fast” sub sandwich shop over the incident.
“We were frequent customers, but will never spend another dollar at your store,” one customer wrote on Jimmy John’s Facebook page. “The hateful and racist behavior of your employees is so shameful.”
“Are these your workers??” wrote another. “This isn’t funny or a game. Many innocent people lost their lost due to racial injustice.”
One woman vowed to “never eat at another Jimmy Johns restaurant. It’s not funny, and it’s disgusting.”
McClatchy News reached out to Jimmy John’s for further comment on Monday and is awaiting a response.
