NorCal businesses feel impacts of global supply chain issues
The global supply chain crisis largely perpetrated by COVID-19 impacts worsens as product shortages caused by overwhelming demand is translating into higher prices. In California, the headaches from the backlogs can also be felt. Economist Katheryn Russ from UC Davis said two of the most concerning categories for low and middle-income Americans are food and energy. "In meat, we see an increase of 10 to 20% depending on the product, and that can really take a bite out of consumer's wallets," Russ said, adding that energy has increased roughly 25% from fall 2020.
