A youthful Nordonia boys golf squad continues to get better and it’s a crucial time of the season with sectional tournament action in play.

This time around, it was the play of the programs two seniors that led the charge in the final league tournament.

After competing in the recent fourth Suburban League tournament, the Knights participated in the challenging Division I Sectional Tournament at Windmill Lakes in Ravenna.

In the fourth and final Suburban League National Conference tournament at Akron’s J.E. Good Park Golf Course on Sept. 29, the Knights had some positive marks on a morning when brisk and slick conditions prevailed.

Nordonia was paced by its pair of seniors – Max Weber and Mason Reville.

Showing great consistency, Weber fired an 82 in Akron to pace the Knights. He had a round of 41 on both the front and back nine at Good Park.

Reville also played well as he finished with an 84 – also showing some consistent play with a 42 on the front and back nine.

In addition, Drew Kitzmiller has shown plenty of promise for Nordonia. Kitzmiller followed a front nine mark of 42 with a round of 43 to finish with an 85 in the league tourney.

Ben Mallis also contributed as he carded an 89 (44-45), Ryan Mallis turned in a 91 (45-46), and Caden Cook carded a 100 (51-49).

In the team standings, Hudson used a fifth-player tiebreaker to defeat Stow-Munroe Falls for team honors in the fourth league tournament.

Hudson and Stow finished with a team score of 320 in Akron, followed closely by Wadsworth 323 and North Royalton 336.

Nordonia was close to North Royalton for the fourth spot in the league tournament with a team score of 340, finishing ahead of Twinsburg 347, and Brecksville, who was at 350.
