Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: How to shop early access before deals sell out

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is without a doubt the best time of year to score some of the best prices on top fashion brands. During the event, new arrivals from popular brands are marked down for a limited time before going back up to their full price. That being said, it’s not just a sale. It’s pretty much fashion’s Black Friday.

If you're a cardholder, you can shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale now, as early access sale officially opened to all cardholders on Thursday, August 13th. However, some cardholders have been gaining access over the past week (the more money you spend per year at the department store, the earlier you could shop) and many top items have either sold out and are starting to sell out. Luckily, our team has been doing the hard work of keeping tabs on all the best items you can shop from the sale, replacing items that have sold out with other quality things.

When does the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020 start?

The sale is open to the public on Wednesday, August 19th, and ends on Sunday, August 30th. If you’re a cardholder, though, you get early access.

For cardholders, your shopper status determines when you can start shopping. There are four different statuses, depending on how much money you spend per year at the retailer, and the higher your status, the earlier you get to shop.

• Icons: Tuesday, August 4th

• Ambassadors: Friday, August 7th

• Influencers: Monday, August 10th

• Insiders: Thursday, August 13th

Early access for all cardholders ends on Tuesday, August 18th, the day before the sale opens up to everyone. But after early access ends, cardholders can continue shopping as they please until the sale is officially over.

How to shop the early access sale

If you're not a cardholder, you can sign up any time between now and Tuesday, August 18th to gain early access to the sale and get a $60 "Bonus Note," which is Nordstrom's way of saying "gift card."

If you shop at Nordstrom regularly, having the card could be worthwhile—especially if you're looking to shop this year's anniversary sale. The most popular items will sell out long before the regular sale begins, meaning there are slim pickings when the public can finally shop.

Nordstrom offers a retail card, only to be spent at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, HauteLook, and Trunk Club, as well as Visa Signature and Visa Platinum cards. There is no annual fee for these cards, and they offer competitive APRs. I have been a proud Nordstrom Retail cardholder for years and have enjoyed many of the other perks the card offers, including receiving Nordstrom Notes that go towards purchasing anything on the site after acquiring enough points, and the free, basic alterations on regular-priced items that I’ve purchased at the store.
