Nordstrom Rack is coming to west Olympia this fall, retailer announces

Nordstrom, long-rumored to be coming to Olympia, has made it official, announcing they are going to open a Nordstrom Rack in west Olympia this fall at Cooper Point Marketplace.

Nordstrom Rack is the company’s off-price, sister-brand department store chain founded in 1973.

Cooper Point Marketplace is a shopping center on Cooper Point Road Southwest, near Black Lake Boulevard, that is home to Five Guys Burgers, HomeGoods and Ashley Furniture. The store will measure 32,000 square feet, Nordstrom officials say.

The Olympian reached out to Nordstrom for more details about the store. Stay tuned, a spokesperson replied.

“We will continue to add more details as we approach the opening season,” their email reads.

Leonard Bauer, the city of Olympia’s Community Planning and Development Director, confirmed the store is coming here, adding the city has issued permits for tenant improvement work at the site.

Nordstrom last had a store in this area at South Sound Center in Lacey in the early 1990s. It was called Nordstrom Place Two.

In brief comments to The Olympian, owner John Bourdon said the money will go toward relocating the distillery to downtown Tenino on property they already own, he said.

They don’t have an address just yet, but the new building will be built in the area of the intersection at Old Highway 99 and state Route 507. However, Bourdon emphasized that the journey is just beginning.

He doesn’t think the move will be complete until 2026.
