Nordstrom Rack sets opening date for new SLO location

Nordstrom Rack has finally announced the opening date for its long-awaited new store in San Luis Obispo.

The popular outlet, which offers discounts on designer and top-brand goods, will open in the SLO Promenade shopping center on Oct. 26, according to an announcement on the company website.

The 24,000-square-foot spot previously housed Staples, which shuttered in 2014.

According to the announcement, opening day will feature a range of special activities and treats for customers, including the opportunity to win a $1,000 Nordstrom Rack Gift Card. The first 500 customers will also receive a complimentary tote bag.

Nordstrom Rack joins Sprouts, REI, Hobby Lobby and Cost Plus World Market in The Kroenke Group-owned shopping center, which has seen a slew of new tenants in recent years.

Nearby, work is continuing on the new Tilly’s teen clothing store in the Madonna Plaza shopping center. The company has not yet released an official opening date for that business.
