TechArk Solutions, a Norfolk-based web design and marketing agency, has acquired the Virginia Beach-based ad agency Eyepinch.

The digital solutions firm has shown significant growth since its founding in 2012 by chief executive officer Pratik Kothari.

The business started with a team of five people and has grown to more than 95 worldwide.

In 2016, it moved its headquarters from a shared office space in Virginia Beach’s Town Center to a 3,000-square-foot building it bought on Brambleton Avenue.

The majority of the team, which includes six full-time employees hired during the pandemic, has worked remotely since March 2020.

Kothari said they have several openings for the website and digital marketing teams.

The acquisition added 70 new clients to TechArk’s Hampton Roads customer base.

“This is a strategic acquisition for the TechArk team, as it helps us in growing our customer base and further solidifies our footprint it the Hampton Roads market,” Kothari said in a news release.

The acquisition was completed on Dec. 28. Financial terms for the transaction were not disclosed.

Ash Gilpin started Eyepinch, which specializes in web design and development, programming and online marketing, in 1996 while still a student at Cox High School.

The company president said that in recent years he’s moved into the online retail arena — selling products globally through different platforms — with his company The Digerati Group.

With less time to devote to Eyepinch, Gilpin felt TechArk would be a great fit to take on its client base.

“We continue to see a strong need for the services we offer,” Kothari said. “This acquisition only makes us stronger and will help us in scaling up faster.”
