UPDATE: North Abilene house fire victim escapes flames, family of 3 displaced

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A resident escaped a burning home Wednesday morning.

KTAB/KRBC spoke with a witness at a house fire on North 9th Street who called 9-1-1 around 11:30 a.m. after seeing smoke and flames.

The Abilene Fire Department arrived shortly after to battle the blaze.

One resident told KTAB/KRBC he was asleep on the couch when he noticed the couch and kitchen on fire, and ran out as quickly as possible. No injuries were reported.

AFD estimated damages to be around $25,000, and determined the fire to be accidental and electrical in nature. The American Red Cross was called to assist the three family members who have been displaced because of the fire.
