North Augusta City Council is getting one new face and keeping two familiar ones.

Local coach and VUE Real Estate partner David Buck won a seat on the council Tuesday evening while incumbents Eric Presnell and Kevin Toole won second terms. They beat out local entrepreneur Richard Adams.

The tentative results were approximately 1,100 votes for Toole, 1,000 for Presnell, 995 for Buck, 672 for write-ins, and 556 for Adams. These results are unofficial until they are verified by Aiken County Elections.

Buck said after losing the 2021 city council race, he was really committed to putting in the work this time. As a city councilman, he is particularly focused on ensuring the new North Augusta Public Safety Headquarters is finished in a timely manner.

"I'm (going to) be honest, ethical and accessible," Buck said. "If you need me, call me."

Toole said that over the last few years he has really learned a lot about how the city works and how to work with residents of differing opinions. He hopes to take that knowledge and continue the work he and the rest of the council are doing.

Presnell gave similar thoughts, saying now that he and Toole are not newcomers, he looks forward to them hitting the ground running and continuing development on the projects they have coming down the pipeline.

One face that will soon be leaving North Augusta's municipal government is North Augusta City Councilman Bob Brooks, who chose not to run for re-election after serving eight years. Brooks said earlier this month that he and his wife are looking forward to spending more time with their family, church, and North Augusta's Chamber of Commerce.
