North Brunswick Walmart Prepares To Administer COVID Vaccine

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – The Walmark in North Brunswick is among 12 stores that plans to administer the COVID-19 vaccine, the company announced.

The Walmart on 979 Route 1 South is offering the vaccine “at the state’s request,” a company spokesperson said. No date has been announced yet.

“So far, we have an estimated 100 stores and Sam’s Clubs across more than half a dozen states administering vaccines to those the state has deemed eligible, including here in New Jersey,” said spokesperson Alexa Cangialosi.

Walmart said the vaccine is available for state-designated priority groups.

Detailing their plan on a blog post, Walmart officials said that when they reach capacity, they expect to be able to administer 10 million to 13 million doses per month.

"With 150 million people passing through our doors each week, we're in a unique position to reach people where they already shop," Walmart Executive Vice President of Health and Wellness Dr. Cheryl Pegus said in the post.

"We're also a federal pharmacy partner and can accept federal allocation of doses in all our Walmart and Sam's Club pharmacies."

The COVID vaccine will be made available in the following New Jersey stores:

  • Pleasantville

  • Toms River

  • North Brunswick Township

  • Burlington Township

  • Pennsville

  • Franklin

  • Garfield

  • Hamilton Township

  • Vineland

  • Linden

  • North Bergen

  • Boonton

The vaccine can be scheduled on the company’s website. The Walmart store has not yet been added to the statewide list of vaccine sites.

New Jersey is currently going through a shortage of the coronavirus vaccine. The state said it was receiving 100,000 doses per week, but need a supply of 400,000 doses per week to meet demands.

To increase your chances of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, officials advise to register at the state and local portals.
