North Carolina Firefighters Tow Residents From Flooded Apartment Building Amid Heavy Rain

The Winston-Salem Fire Department towed residents of an apartment building to safety in a raft after historic flooding inundated North Carolina on Thursday, November 12.

Various counties issued states of emergency as a result of flooding, power outages, and road closures, local media reported. At least 30 people were rescued from a family campground on Thursday morning.

The more than four inches of rainfall in Charlotte, North Carolina, set a new record as of Thursday, causing a local creek to reach a water level passing the record set by Hurricane Danny in 1997.
