North Carolina linebacker transfer Eugene Asante commits to Auburn football

AUBURN — Auburn football landed a much-needed linebacker commitment from North Carolina transfer Eugene Asante on Tuesday.

The 6-foot, 220-pound linebacker was a role player for the Tar Heels in 2021, playing in every game and recording 23 tackles. He played at North Carolina for three seasons with 62 total tackles.

The Chantilly, Virginia, native was a four-star recruit coming out of high school. He's a valuable addition to an Auburn position group that loses seniors Zakoby McClain and Chandler Wooten, who combined for 189 tackles last season.
