The mention stretches back to a similar occurrence from Rodgers, who thanked Foster in his NFL MVP acceptance speech, and who recently announced his engagement to Mauritanian co-star Shailene Woodley. In a backstage interview following her win, Foster told Yahoo Entertainment, “I decided that not only am I a huge Packers fan, but I am a MVP. I am [a] competitive MVP with Aaron Rogers!” She also clarified that she has “never met” Rodgers and also that she didn’t set him up with Woodley. “I did not set up Shailene and Aaron,” she said. “But it is possible that I do like to talk about how much I love the Green Bay Packers … Shailene is very aware of my enthusiasm for the team.”
“Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” director/actor Sacha Baron Cohen won twice at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday. During his acceptance speeches he took time to mock former President Donald Trump and his attorney Rudy Giuliani. While accepting the Best Musical or Comedy award, Cohen interrupted his own speech, saying, “Hold on, Donald Trump is contesting the result. He claimed a lot of dead people voted which is a very rude thing to say about the HFPA.” When he won for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical, he praised Giuliani’s brief appearance in his film. In the scene, which was heavily covered by news outlets, Giuliani is seen lying on a bed and adjusting his pants zipper. “This movie could not have been possible without my costar,” said Cohen, “a fresh new talent, who came from nowhere, and turned out to be a comedy genius. I'm talking of course about Rudy Giuliani. I mean, who can get more laughs out of one unzipping? Incredible. Our movie was just the beginning for him. Rudy went on to star in a string of comedy films. Hits like “Four Seasons Landscaping,” “Hair Dye Another Day,” and the courtroom drama, “A Very Public Fart.”

On American Idol Sunday night, Lionel Richie was brought to tears over 19-year-old contestant Ronda Felton and her story. Felton herself was emotional from the moment she walked into the audition room as she shared the hardships her and her mother have been through leading up to her Idol moment, which included being homeless often and living in shelters all over the country. Ronda said of her mother’s sacrifice: “I know that at times she felt she liked she failed as a parent, but she did anything that helped us survive and just keep on going.” After Richie handed her a tissue to dab at her tears, Felton composed herself and belted the ballad version of Dreamgirls’ “One Night Only" and, within seconds, Richie's eyes were watering. "“I was doing really well, until you came in and did something that no one has done tonight – which is touch me to the point of making me cry,” Richie told Felton. Moved by Felton's backstory as well as by her raw talent, Richie continued: “Every once in a while, life happens and then you figure, ‘How do I get out of this situation?’ And God provides a crack in the wall. Just a crack. Just like every other crack, it's been there forever, but that crack is just enough for you to get through. And my dear, you just found that crack – because that was the moment that will change your life.” Felton barely heard the judges’ three subsequent enthusiastic yeses, before she impulsively ran outside to grab her mother by the hand and pull her into the room to hear the good news. The moment then got even more emotional and special, when Felton's mother Juretha Jones joined her side, which eventually led to an impromptu singalong to the Commodores' "Zoom" between the mother daughter duo and Richie. “I never thought I’d get on this show and start revealing my side. You know, when I wrote that song I was deeply troubled, because I didn’t know where I was going,” Lionel confessed to Ronda and Juretha. “So, if I touched you in any way, you’ve given me the greatest gift ever. Thank you. Whoa. That got me messed up.”

Israel approved plans on Sunday to offer COVID-19 vaccines to Palestinians with Israeli work permits, a step a rights group said did not go far enough to safeguard Palestinians in occupied territory. More than 850 cows that have spent months on a ship in the Mediterranean are no longer fit for transport and should be killed, Spain's Agriculure Ministry said on Saturday, confirming an earlier Reuters report. The cows were kept in what an animal rights activist called "hellish" conditions on the Karim Allah, which docked in the southeastern Spanish port of Cartagena on Thursday after struggling to find a buyer for the cattle during the past two months. The animals were rejected by several countries over fears they had bovine bluetongue virus.

A man was killed by a rooster with a blade tied to its leg during an illegal cockfight in southern India, police said, bringing focus on a practice that continues in some Indian states despite a decades-old ban. The rooster, with a 3-inch knife tied to its leg, fluttered in panic and slashed its owner, 45-year-old Thangulla Satish, in his groin last week, police inspector B. Jeevan said Sunday. Thailand kicked off its COVID-19 inoculation campaign on Sunday, with cabinet ministers, health officials and medical professionals among the first in the queue to receive vaccinations.
