North Dakota man injured in crash near Bowdon on Friday

Feb. 10—BOWDON, N.D. — A Maddock, North Dakota, man was injured on Friday, Feb. 9, when his vehicle rear-ended a semi-truck near Bowdon, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Eric Hvinden, 44, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, which occurred at 10:15 a.m. 10 miles east of Bowdon on N.D. Highway 200.

The patrol said Kenneth Risovi, 67, Harvey, North Dakota, was driving a 1999 Kenworth semi-truck hauling a trailer westbound on Highway 200. Risovi had entered the highway from 45th Avenue Northeast.

Hvinden, who was driving a 2007 Chevy Silverado westbound on the highway, failed to see the slower-moving Kenworth semi-truck and trailer and rear-ended the trailer, the patrol said.

Hvinden was transported by Carrington ambulance to CHI St. Alexius Hospital Carrington and then transported to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. Hvinden was not wearing a seat belt. He was charged with driving under suspension and cited for open container of alcohol, the patrol said.

Risovi was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Agencies responding in addition to the patrol were the Wells County Sheriff's Department, Carrington Police Department, Bowdon Fire Department, Sykeston Fire Department and Carrington ambulance.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
