As we approach the 2024 election season, it is time for North Dakota voters to make a plan to vote.

On the national stage, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum was a contender in the crowded Presidential primary election before dropping out ahead of the third debate in Miami.

In addition to the presidential election, North Dakota will elect a U.S. Senator. Republican Sen. Kevin Cramer told local station KVRR in October that he is preparing to run for reelection. Cramer's son was involved in a police chase that led to an officer's death on Dec. 6..

No matter who ends up in the Senate race, here is what North Dakota voters need to know to cast their vote.

Election Day voting in North Dakota

As registration is not required, voters must bring identification with their current address to the polling place.

Voters can not use an out-of-state driver's license as their ID. If the address on your state ID is no longer the same, the Secretary of State suggests updating the ID at least 30 days before the election, though providing supplemental documentation such as a bill with the current address could be an option. Tribal IDs may require additional forms to be turned in.

To see full ID requirements, check the North Dakota Secretary of State website.

Voters can look up their polling places and operating times online.
