North Mecklenburg High student dies in car crash. ‘We are praying for his family.’

The victim of a deadly car crash in Southeast Charlotte on Wednesday was a 17-year-old student at North Mecklenburg High School.

On Thursday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools confirmed that senior Dontae Palmer was the student who died in the crash.

North Mecklenburg High School Principal Stephanie Hood shared the following statement with families after the crash:

“I’m sorry to inform you that one of our students, Dontae Palmer, age 17, died yesterday afternoon in a car accident. Dontae took classes here at North Meck and also at AIM, Aviation Institute of Maintenance, one of our dual enrollment programs. We are praying for his family and friends as they grieve this loss of life.”

The statement went on to say a Crisis Response Team would be available to help with grief counseling.
