How North Oldham boys cross country continued Class 2A dominance

Led by junior Adam Patel, the North Oldham High School boys cross country team continued its dominance of the KHSAA Class 2A Championships.

Patel finished second in the individual race to help the Mustangs run away with their third straight title in the team competition at Friday’s state meet at the Bourbon County Cross Country Park in Paris, Ky.

North Oldham’s boys team has won 10 of the 15 Class 2A titles. The Mustangs finished with 79 points and were followed by Webster County (115), Corbin (226) and Highlands (230).

Patel finished with a time of 15 minutes, 41.42 seconds and was the runner-up to Thomas Nelson sophomore Riku Sugie (15:38.43). Bell County senior Caden Miracle was third at 15:46.02.

Joining Patel among the 25 individual finishers for North Oldham were freshman Jasper Smith (10th, 16:43.08), sophomore Charley Townsend (12th, 16:50.48) and junior Henry Downs (24th, 17:24.90).

Spencer County sophomore Casey DeSilvey finished seventh in 16:30.35.

Lexington Catholic won the 2A girls crown for the second straight year, finishing with 64 points. Scott was second with 100 and was followed by Elizabethtown (153), Mason County (161), North Oldham (181) and Christian Academy (218).

Scott junior Maddie Strong took individual honors with a time of 18:41.98. Lincoln County freshman Abigail Bastin finished second at 18:54.03.

Christian Academy freshman Anabelle Plummer was the top finisher from the Louisville area, taking 14th place at 20:28.60.
