North River plan calls for 750 apartments in mixed-use revision of 31st Street Studios

New York-based North River Co. LLC is ready to present what’s now been more than three years of master plan approaches for its 31st Street Studios property in the Strip District to the city.

The company is on the agenda to present its master plan for the 9.7-acre site along the Allegheny riverfront to the Pittsburgh Planning Commission at its next meeting on Tuesday, May 2.

Working with a former steel mill property that’s hosted movie productions for more than 10 years now in space now equipped with a selection of sound stages, North River and its architect, Perkins Eastman, show a plan that calls for building out a new residential community on the site that could total 750 apartments.
