The Gateway Unified School District is accepting applications for a member of its board of trustees.

Applicants for the seat must live in Area 2. They must be registered to vote, are not employed by the school district and would not hold another political office or position that would conflict with being a member of the board of trustees.

Applications and a letter of interest are due to the district office by 4 p.m. on March 3. Applications are available online at the school district website at http://www.gateway-schools.org. Those interested may also call 530-245-7900 to schedule to pick up an application in person.

A position on the board became vacant when Cherrill Clifford resigned on Feb. 6 amid controversy over the hiring of a new superintendent.

Applications may be submitted by email to dboontjer@gwusd.org or by U.S. Mail to Interim Superintendent Steven Hanson, Gateway Unified School District, 4411 Mountain Lakes Blvd. Redding, CA 96003.

All applications will be reviewed to ensure eligibility, and applicants may be invited to an interview before the board of trustees in an open session meeting, on a date to be determined. For more information, contact the school district superintendent’s office at 530-245-7908.
