North Village Art Walk to welcome new artworks during First Friday celebration

The North Village Art Walk is adding pieces to its free art crawl route.

The celebration of the installation will take place during the monthly First Friday event from 6 to 8 p.m. The installations are supported by the Veterans United Foundation, which provided a $231,530 grant for the North Village Art Walk in late 2021.

“The North Village Arts Walk brings to (life) the love our community has for the arts. We are always excited to see what they do next," said Nickie Davis, Downtown Community Improvement District Executive director in a news release.

New art includes the Non-Portrait Panel sculpture by Askia Bilal. A new mural called "Blues Shouters" by Lisa Bartlett at the secret courtyard between Sager Reeves and Artlandish galleries. A special celebration also will take place at Love Columbia, 1209 E. Walnut St., for the installation of "Gymnast" by Larry Youngs.

Live music will be available under the "Art Lives Here!" sign on Walnut Street between Artlandish and Sager Reeves.

Other First Friday celebrations in the downtown and North Village Arts districts include the Cinco De Mayo Celebración happy hour starting at 5:30 p.m. at Rose Music Hall, 1013 Park Ave.; First Friday starting starting 6 p.m. at Serendipity Salon and Gallery, 1020 E.
