North 4, Ellet 0

With a roster full of players from more nations than the average professional team, the Vikings made it back-to-back Akron City Series titles Tuesday.

The Vikings (12-3, 4-0) used possession soccer in their own half and a slew of through balls to carve up Ellet's defense. North finished with a 16-3 edge in shots on goal and a 9-4 edge in corner kicks.

Vikings senior captain Israel Mandongo scored a hat trick, including a pair of headed goals off corner kicks from midfielder Juan Hernandez.

Hernandez scored the Vikings other goal in the 32nd minute.

Ellet's defense was under constant pressure, but goaltender Derke Fletcher kept the Orangemen in as he finished with 12 saves.

Revere 2, Aurora 0

Second verse, same as the first.

The Minutemen (14-1-1, 6-0-1) took care of business and then got some help from Highland and have won the Suburban League American Conference outright.

Revere came into the evening tied with Copley (8-4-3, 5-1-1), but the Hornets beat Copley 2-1 and the Minutemen walked out champions by themselves.

“It puts a little extra on it,” Revere coach Nick DePompei said. “We like to tell people we don’t rebuild. We just kind of reload. The kids were ready. It was awesome to see.”

With the score tied at zero at halftime, Calin Milicia scored the game-winner 10 minutes into the second half.

Joe Brown added insurance 14 minutes later to keep the Greenmen at bay.

The win put a bow on the regular season and gave Revere some momentum heading into the postseason.

“This year, the group is so tight from growing up together,” DePompei said. “This is the biggest senior class we’ve had in a while. There’s 12 and most of them have been playing soccer together for nine years. They really did it as a team. Just seeing their chemistry and unselfishness is great.”

The game with Copley and Highland went into halftime tied at one.

Landon Antal scored for Copley and Highland scored on an own goal.

Max Wuchter drove home the game-winner for the Hornets (9-6-1, 5-2).

Archbishop Hoban 2, Hawken 2

Jared Bendo and Ron Watford brought the Knights (2-8-5) back from a two-goal deficit at the break in a win over the Hawks (7-3).
