NORTHBROOK, IL — Halloween is almost upon us in Northbrook, and there’s still time to get in some seasonal fun. Even in the time of coronavirus, the Chicago area’s pumpkin patches are open — and there’s still time to scare up some fun with Patch’s tour of spooky yard haunts and tales of local lore.

Halloween Spooky Trail

4-8 p.m. Oct. 31. Porch Parade Decorating Contest. Northbrook residents and businesses are invited to decorate their porch, house, front yard, or front window and compete for gift cards from local establishments. First, second, and third prizes will be awarded in various categories! Houses will be judged the week of October 26, just in time for the Halloween Spooky Trail. Register your home to enter the contest at nbparks.org with code: 14760. Winners in five categories will be selected by ’celebrity judges’ and receive gift cards to local restaurants.in the amount of $100 First Place, $50 Second Place, and $25 Third Place, and a $100 People’s Choice Award, with the potential for ties/honorable mentions.
