Northeast Florida boys lacrosse ready for second-round FHSAA regional playoffs

Creekside (14-5) at Lake Mary (20-0)

7 p.m. Wednesday

A very difficult mission looms for the Knights, making the trip down Interstate 4 to meet the undefeated Rams. Senior Ian Schultz was a major contributor in the opening-round win over Ocala Forest, with a goal, five assists, 10 ground balls and four takeaways. For Lake Mary, Mitchell Campbell, Caden Harshbarger, Aaron Tichonoff and Luke Shale all have 30 or more goals.

Nease (15-4) at Ponte Vedra (15-5)

7:30 p.m. Wednesday

Buckle up for this one. Ponte Vedra has dominated this rivalry for more than a decade, but their 9-6 district final on April 14 was the closest Nease has come to beating the Sharks for more than 13 years. Keep an eye on the goaltenders, where Ethan Jahr of Nease and Jack Pelot of Ponte Vedra are both among Northeast Florida's best.

Episcopal (15-6) at Gainesville Oak Hall (18-1)

7 p.m. Wednesday

Not an easy trip for Episcopal in this battle of Eagles. Oak Hall rolls into the second round on a 13-game winning streak and defeated Episcopal 12-5 in the season opener. Belmont Abbey commit Luke Staab, who is Oak Hall's all-time top scorer, and sophomore Pierce Montes have combined for 136 Oak Hall goals in 2023.

Pensacola Catholic (15-2) at Bolles (19-2)

5 p.m. Tuesday

Still unbeaten against Florida opponents, Bolles boys lacrosse has been a machine all year, with major scorers in Gavin Boree (72 goals, 39 assists), Daylin John-Hill (66 goals, 64 assists), Parker Kane (63 goals, 10 assists), Caleb Coleman (50 goals, eight assists) and Spencer Surface (49 goals, 21 assists). The visiting Crusaders also field two 50-goal attackers in Bennett Rauscher and Andrew Frosch.
