Northeast Florida boys soccer playoffs 2022-2023: Yulee stings Wakulla in overtime

Yulee's Hornets are keeping their sting well into February.

Yulee fought back from a deficit, ousting top-seeded Wakulla 2-1 in overtime of Saturday night's Florida High School Athletic Association Region 1-4A boys soccer semifinal in Crawfordville.

The War Eagles (14-6-3) struck before halftime, before Yulee (17-2-1) rallied to keep its best-ever season alive on goals from junior Hunter Kratochvil and senior Sebastian Joinville.

Now, a Yulee program that had never won an FHSAA playoff game in seven prior regional visits is set for its first regional final, on Wednesday night at the winner of Monday's game between Beachside and Bishop Kenny.

That game will also be the first boys soccer regional final for any Nassau County school since Fernandina Beach qualified for the Class 4A final in 2007, and the first regional final for Yulee in any team ball sport since a Derrick Henry-led Hornets football squad reached the final four in 2012.
