The Florida High School Athletic Association begins the first round of high school baseball playoffs across Jacksonville and Northeast Florida.

In 2022, playoffs are staggered across different days and different classes, leading to a span of more than a week of state championships from May 18-21 and May 23-25 at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers.

Bolles, Fleming Island and St. Johns Country Day reached the final four from Northeast Florida last year. Playing schedules are subject to change.

Regional quarterfinals

7 p.m. Tuesday

REGION 1-7A

Oviedo (15-11) at Bartram Trail (19-8)

Brody DeLamielleure and Justin Nadeau power the lineup for a Bears squad that's among Northeast Florida's hottest. They've won four in a row and eight of their last nine. Oviedo's Daniel Baez and Xavier Lopez are both batting better than .350. Victory means a meeting with Apopka or West Orange.

Sandalwood (18-6) at Oviedo Hagerty (14-11)

Tanner Reed, Dakota Stone and Cooper Whited form a potent pitching punch for the Saints, who must recapture their batting rhythm after dropping four of five. They meet a proven Hagerty ace in UCF-committed Garrett Baumann (4-2, 1.42 ERA, 87 strikeouts). The winner would meet DeLand or Lake Brantley in the next round.

Twin sluggers: Malachi Witherspoon, Kyson Witherspoon lead Fletcher baseball in FHSAA playoff chase

REGION 1-6A

Cantonment Tate (23-3) at First Coast (15-8)

First Coast got hot at the perfect time, and in sophomore Hunter Carns, they've got an explosive weapon at the top of the order. Tate ace Josiah Glodfelter is on his way to West Florida. If the Bucs win, they would meet Pace or Ocala Forest.

Fletcher (23-3) at Orange City University (23-5)

These Senators could go as far as twins Malachi Witherspoon and Kyson Witherspoon can take them. The Titans make solid contact up and down the lineup with a .310 team average and 61 doubles, 15 of them by Ethan Jones. The winner plays Spruce Creek or Tallahassee Chiles.

REGION 1-5A

St. Augustine (17-8) at Columbia (19-8)

Columbia has already won this matchup twice in the last six weeks, including Chandler Howard's 3-for-4, two-double outing in Thursday's 11-2 district final victory. Luke Hayes (7-0, 1.64 ERA, .394 average as batter) has been an all-around star for the Yellow Jackets.

Lynn Haven Mosley (15-11) at Stanton (16-11)

Stanton has built nice momentum entering the playoffs. The Blue Devils' lineup is well-balanced with reliable contact hitters, led by Alex Bairan and Cole Durham. They must be on guard against the power of Cole Horton (7 HR) and Mosley, a team that averages more than a homer per game.

Regional semifinals

7 p.m. Tuesday

REGION 3-1A

Fort White (14-6) at Union County (14-11)

Meeting number four: The rivals split the regular season series, then Union County won the district semifinal 6-3 on a Lucas Johns four-hitter. Fort White's Jonathan Fischer and Tory Hadorn both own ERAs below 2.00. The winner plays Madison County or Mayo Lafayette.
