Northeast Florida high school boys soccer 2022-2023: Regional final previews

All games 7 p.m. Wednesday

REGION 1-4A

Yulee (17-2-1) at Bishop Kenny (14-3-3)

This is the deepest-ever run for the Hornets, and in the constantly-active Sebastian Joinville, they've got a 15-goal striker who's red-hot in the box. For Bishop Kenny, keeper Gavin Salomone is in top form, as is attacking midfielder Joseph Jimenez, now up to 17 goals and 13 assists. Yulee got the upper hand when they met Dec. 12, downing the Crusaders 1-0 on a Joinville goal. The winner plays Saturday against an opponent to be determined once the Florida High School Athletic Association re-seeds the semifinalists based on its ranking formula.

REGION 1-3A

Bolles (10-8-2) at Providence (11-2-3)

Meeting number three: The teams tied 1-1 in December, and Providence won by shootout after a 2-2 district final. Goalkeeper Ridge Cullen continues to come up big for the Stallions, on their best playoff run for 12 years. The danger man right now for Bolles is junior Will Morales, who scored once in the opening round against Williston and twice more on Super Bowl Sunday at Tallahassee Maclay, and also returned keeper John Marinatos last week.

REGION 1-2A

St. Johns Country Day (8-5-4) at Tallahassee St. John Paul II (15-2-1)

A rematch from the 2021 season, which the Spartans won on the way to the state title game. Freshman Matias Pardi has been hot for the Panthers, scoring both goals to edge Harvest in overtime. If the game goes to penalties, it could be advantage St. Johns. They've won both the district final and regional semifinal in the tiebreaker.
