Northern Poconos primaries: Check polling places, drop boxes and more

Primary voters in the northern Poconos and Lake Region will elect candidates for school board, magisterial district judges and county, township and borough positions on Tuesday, May 16.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters in line by 8 p.m. can stay in line and vote.

Check your registration status

Make sure you are registered by visiting vote.pa.gov/Register-to-Vote/Pages/Check-Your-Voter-Registration-Status.aspx. You can also call 1-877-VOTESPA, or your local elections office.

The last day to register to vote in the primary was Monday, May 1.

Check your polling place

Voters can look up their polling places at pavoterservices.pa.gov/Pages/PollingPlaceInfo.aspx.

Request a mail-in or absentee ballot

Mail-in or absentee ballot requests must be received by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9. Anyone can request a mail-in ballot, while absentee ballots are for those who will be out of town or have a disability or illness that prevents them from going to the polls.

You can apply online at pavoterservices.pa.gov/OnlineAbsenteeApplication/#/OnlineAbsenteeBegin.

You can also download a form from vote.pa.gov/Voting-in-PA/Pages/Mail-and-Absentee-Ballot.aspx and mail it to the county elections office, or apply in person.

Drop box locations

Mail-in and absentee ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day, the same time the polls close. Postmarks do not count.

Lackawanna County

Clarks Summit Borough Building: 304 S State Street, Clarks Summit; open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Available until noon on May 12.

Dickson City Borough Building: 901 Enterprise Street, Dickson City; open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Available until noon on May 12.

Moosic Borough Building: 715 Main Street, Moosic; open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Available until noon on May 12.

Roaring Brook Twp. Municipal Building: 430 Blue Shutters Road, Roaring Brook Twp.; open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Available until May 12.

Lackawanna County Government Center: 123 Wyoming Avenue, First Floor Lobby, Scranton; open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Available until 8 p.m. on May 16. This is the only drop box available on Election Day for Lackawanna County.

Wayne County

Wayne County Courthouse: 925 Court St., Honesdale; available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Pike County

Pike County Administration Building: 506 Broad St., Milford; available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Note that the building's front steps are under construction, access to the building is available around the back near the parking lot.
