Northern State's Jackson Harrison wins SDSU Classic cross-country meet: Sports roundup

Northern State's Jackson Harrison won the men's 8-kilometer race Friday evening at the South Dakota State Classic cross-country meet in Brookings.

He finished in 25:01.61, more than six seconds ahead of the nearest competition.

Wolves Josh Martin and Jonathan Burkhalter recorded times of 26:17.08 and 27:17.36, good for 26th and 36th place, respectively.

In the women's 5-K race, Northern's Mary Franssen placed 15th in a time of 19:28.08. Victoria Kolbinger and Jennifer Clark followed in 17th and 20th, respectively, with times of 19:31.07 and 19:35.47.

Leah Hansen of SDSU won the women's race in 18:03.12. The Jackrabbits claimed both the men's and women's team titles.

Pierre won the team title and Aberdeen Central placed 12th out of 14 teams. Luke Olson of Pierre was the medalist, shooting a 69 and winning a playoff. Aberdeen Central's top finisher was Peyton Brust who shot a 77 and tied for 18th place.
