Northlight Theatre’s 2023-24 season includes BJ Jones directing a new John Patrick Shanley play

Northlight Theatre in Skokie has announced its 2023-24 season. The current upcoming slate of four shows, under artistic director BJ Jones and executive director Timothy J. Evans, opens in September at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts, 9501 Skokie Blvd., Skokie, and includes a world premiere by John Patrick Shanley. “Birthday Candles” (Sept. 7 to Oct. 8): Directed by Jessica Thebus and starring Kate Fry. Noah Haidle’s play revisits a woman’s life over decades.

“Dial M For Murder” (Nov. 30 to Dec. 31): Directed by Georgette Verdin and adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher from the original by Frederick Knott, the murder mystery that inspired Hitchcock.

“Selling Kabul” (Jan. 25 to Feb. 25, 2024): Directed by Hamid Dehghani. Sylvia Khoury’s Pulitzer finalist is about a former interpreter for the U.S. military in Afghanistan.

“Brooklyn Laundry” (April 11 to May 12, 2024): Jones directs a world premiere from Shanley, the author of “Moonstruck” and “Doubt,” about a couple coming together later in life.
